Windows 7/8/10, Windows XP 64-bit, Mac OS X 10.X So it seems, that the noise and the weird way the two machines begin to interact, occurs after some time has passed in their having been connected. However, after the devices have been plugged together for about 1/2 hour, the tracks start getting noisy. The first tracks that I record immediately after plugging in the system are clean and everything works well, tho I do have to set the gains a little hotter and crank the Master on the Alesis a little more to get good recording levels in the Mac. Here's the weirdo-ism, and it is a consistent one b/c it's happened every time I use the USB connection, and it has happened with two different, brand new Alesis Multimix 8USBs. Then, I undid all that, and plugged up the Alesis to the MAC using the USB cable and made all appropriate setting changes (ie, changed to USB CODEC line in, and output, in System Settings and in Garageband Prefs, and through the Applications Audio/Midi setup, etc). I recorded for about an hour this way, just adding different real instruments, such as bass and acoustic guitar, etc., and got really hot recording levels and clean tracks, no problems. Yesterday, I set up the system, and just used quarter-inch jacks out of the two Main Outs and went straight into the MAC and used the MAC's internal inputs, and plugged my headphones straight into the MAC and had no problems recording that way. On the other hand, there is a weirdo-ism using the USB cable connection, that I have troubleshhot and A/B'd it in the following manner. I do have the MAC set to minimum delay when recording a musical instrument, so I don't know what else to do about the latency problem. Yesterday, I did some more trouble shooting and still can't solve the problem. Rather, it is just called the Multimix 8USB.

Not sure b/c the product is not designated either way, but it is definitely not designated the Multimix USB 2.0. When I record my instrument straight into the MAC, I don't have a latency problem. The fourth problem is latency by a few seconds. I have all the things that should be set to CODEC set to that. The third problem is that I really have to crank the gains on the Alesis to really get any decent recording levels in Garageband, and even the ones I finally get are too low.

The second problem is that I can get clean recorded tracks for the first few minutes that I'm on the MAC and Alesis, and then I start getting some noise after a little while, and can't seem to get rid of it. Is there anyway to hear the tracks already recorded and the one you're recoding w/o getting this noise? However, the 2Tk to Control Room seems to create noise on the track. The first problem is that in order to hear any tracks I've already recorded (such as drums for instance) along with the TK I'm recording, I have to punch in both the Master to Control Room headphone switch (on far right lower right) and the Two Track to Control Room switch (in middle, lower right). I'm having 4 problems using the Alesis w/ Garageband and would like some input from anyone, tho posts that are already on here seem to indicate there may be no fix. I just bought an Alesis Multimix 8 USB and I have a Macbook with OS 10 (bought it in December 07).
